Amount of memory used by each SPID on connections

I remember once that the amount of memory being used by
each SPID or connections to the database server is around
40 KB is this correct and is there an article somewhere
that will confirm this.
I currently have a SQL2000 Advanced Server with 8 GB Memory
and 8 700MHZ processors.
We currently have an average of 12000 SPIDS connected
during the business day.
This would lead me to belive I am using around 48 MB's of
memory for coonections is this true?While it is true that a connection consumes resources to maintain itself, yo
u may have a bigger problem here. 12,000 SPIDS seems very high. You may be
having some other issue going on that needs looking into. Are any of these

s the application do a good job at closing connections? Does the applicatio

Start with this - build an extract process to pull the data into a flat file, run a FTP process to send the flat file to a new server, and then a load process on the remote server to load the data in the flat file.
