An instance of the SQL Server Reconciler error object cannot be created

I've got the following server configuration.

Database Server

- Windows 2003 Standard

- MSSQL 2000 sp4

Web Server

- Windows 2003 Standard

- SQL 2000 sp4 replication components

- SQL Mobile 2005 Server tools

The database server published out the snapshot to a share on the web server. This bit is working file, I can see the snapshot contents etc. When I connect from my own pc using SQL Management Studio and attempt to set up a subscription to a Mobile database, I get the following error.

Search for REPLERRX.DLL and register using regsvr32. And then try. If the registration fails for this DLL, just check whether you have all the dependant DLLs. There are tools to find out the dependant DLLs of a particular binary. Most probably you may need to have MSVCR71.DLL and MSVCP71.DLL. However these two DLLs are already packaged in the 'SQL Server 2000 SP4 Replication Components' setup package. There is some problem in the installation I believe. If you could register REPLERRX.DLL, then you should be able to sync.

An error occurred, but no details are available

Hello All,

I have a number of 3D web reports published.
When trying to view most of them, they produce the following error in a browser "An error occurred, but no details are available".
The title bar of the browser displays: "http://esource-03/crystal/enterprise9/eportfolio/en/infoobject.cwr?action=0&id=342".
The id changes from one report to another.
Only 3 reports displays succesfully while the other 13 have this problem.

I even tried to search for the "infoobject.cwr" on the server but couldn't find it.

Any clues?

Thank you,

An error occurred while established a connection

Hello

I am getting this err msg when trying to logon to my website on the web - on my machine there is no prob,

An error occurred while established a connection to the server.
When connection to Sql.S 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that
under the default settings sql.s doesn't allow remote connection.
(provider Tongue Tiedql.S Network interface, error:26- Error Location Server/Interface Specified)

(the files path is like in the web host s)

now this msg is related to the ASPNETDB.MDF (dont use sql.s db but this file)

thanks

Do you have tcp/ip enabled on the server? If you connect from the local machine, you probably won't see the problem but when connecting from a remote machine, you will need tcp/ip enabled. Here are the steps from msdn:

Enable the TCP/IP protocol in SQL Server 2005. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Open SQL Server Configuration Manager. 2. Expand SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration. 3. Click Protocols for SQLInstanceName. SQLInstanceName is a placeholder for the name of the instance of SQL Server 2005. 4. Enable TCP/IP.

An error occurred during local report processing.

Occasionally when we are running reports in our web application we are
getting this error. It seems random and occurs even if a report has
just been run with the same criteria. Sometimes the error occurs a

Sounds like on occasion there is an issue with the cached data for the
report. If you are caching the report data, I would suggest removing
the cache data setting. Also, you might want to delete the rdl.data
file in the interim. Hope this helps.

Thanks Enrique. I was starting to suspect it was something to do with
caching. Do you know how I can remove the cache data setting? I did a

All of our printers are network printers, but I have access to all of

If I didn't have access to the print queue, would I be able to print

An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file failed.

Hi,

I recently installed VS Web Developer Express Ediition and SQL Server Express and I'm doing the How To tutorials and I can't finish the basic data access walkthrough:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-US/library/tw738475.aspx

Because I get an error like this (link for complete error below):

An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\test.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.

When I am setting up the data source for the gridview tool, everything works fine and the test query works fine, but then when I try to actually test the output in the browser with Cntrl+F5 I get this error.

I have been trying for 48 hours to find a solution on my own. I have googled, I have searched everything and I just am at a point where I think I need to ask someone for help.

Please help.

Make sure the file C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\test.mdf failedis not being used by other process. If it is the data file of some database in the SQL instance, you can't attach it by using AttachDBFileName property in the connection string.|||How do I do make sure it's not being used by an other process?|||

In other words, make sure it has not been attached in any SQL instance, and no other application is using it to create a connection.

|||

Thanks for your help so far.

But, how do I do that? How can I tell if another application is using 'it' to create a connection? I am using Visual Web Developer and SQL Server Management Studio Express and SQL Server Configuration Manager. Also when I hit 'Cntrl+F5' while in Visual Web Developer the page opens up in Firefox (my default browser).

I am not using the database for anything else. I have no idea how to monitor SQL instances. I am just beginning to learn these things and am working with tutorials that aren't working for me.

|||

First of all, you aren't crazy or a no brained soul. This is not you. This is quirkiness in how Microsoft (and I am their biggest fan), in trying to make things easier, has somehow made CHANGES to your SQL environment difficult. I am working on sorting this out and creating some kind of a flow chart to troubleshoot all of this, but here are some insights in the meantime (Gurus - please correct me where I am wrong on any of this):

* ASPNETDB.MDF seems to occur for every ASP.NET application and should appear in the |DataDirectory| - which is normally(?/automatically?) APP_DATA

* I think it gets automatically created the first time you run your app (because it seems to me to not be there, then suddenly appear) but it may be under program control - I don't know

* if you have an instance that has been named ASPNETDB or ASPNETDB.MDF in your Sql database, connecting a new one will fail as a duplicate, so use Sql Management Studio to rename any such instances to something unique, like "c:\Webs\PartnerPortal\Northwind Traders\App_Data\ASPNETDB.MDF" instead of just "ASPNETDB.MDF"

* In my environment I have several named instances of Sql Server, including: "STARTEAM" (a Borland created named instance), "OFFICESERVER" "SQLEXPRESS" "MSSQLSERVER" and "MICROSOFT##SSEE" (Mobile edition). However, none of these are useful to me. I have uninstalled SQLSERVER (SQL 2000) and SQLEXPRESS. The one I NEED does not appear - which is the unnamed instance - SQL Enterprise 2005. To access that all I do is enter the server name, ip or .\

* I was using Microsoft Expression Web to edit the default connection string (and this is identical in Server Explorer in VS 2005 also). It asks you the provider. I was using the defaul and could not enter .\ as my Sql Server. I only had the other useless named instances and could not successfully connect. SOOOO I changed the provider. I had two choices:

"Microsoft Sql Server" and "Microsoft Sql Server Database File" (along with "Sql Server Mobile Editiion", etc).

* I changed my selection FROM "Microsoft Sql Server" TO "Microsoft Sql Server Database File". This allowed me to edit the server to be .\ when I went back to my connection string

* Then I changed the provider BACK and now I had the choice I needed! I think that the choice are coming from the registry and it got out of sync

Anyway, now I can connect. I think that connectionString updates the registry, where the problems lie.

*************************************************
Here is the skinny on troubleshooting connections:
*************************************************

(1) have you run aspnet_regsql from a command prompt at the c:\windows\Microsoft.net Framework v2xxx directory?

(2) did you create a virtual directory for your app and enable Asp?
(I have a separate memory pool for each version of Asp - another matter)

(3) did you change the Asp settings to the right connection string? The important things are: .\SQLEXPRESS or .\ or your named instance. If you do not use SQLEXPRESS then User Instance must be False

(4) are all of your instances of ASPNETDB.mdf named uniquely? (Ie: include a path)

(5) does IIS_WPG have sufficient rights to your web directory (this may not be true if you put your webs in your "My Documents")

(6) In VS2005, did you go to Websited-Asp config?

(7) Do you have the right settings in your Web.config?

(8) You must not have extraneous copies of Web.config on your path - they will be automatically referenced in the project. Ie, creating a backup in a subdir, is trouble.

(9) did you set your Default.aspx as the Startup page? (and the right project as the startup project if you have multiple projects?)

(10) did you use Server Explorer to try a different provider, update the registry choices of servers and to include your unnamed instance, per above?

Does Machine.config figure into this?

What have I missed or misstated?

To be honest, having done all of this, I still seem to have a web that I am still troubleshooting the connection for!

****
If anyone can correct, add or improve on the above, please do. What i would love to see is a Visio flowchart in a .pdf that could be emblazoned here. I can be reached at my gmail account of norisksoftware at gmail . com
AND I am looking for contract work doing almost anything technical (web, C#, consulting, Cobol, EDI..) that pays well. I was out of the country for 2 1/2 years and my business kind of dried up. Go figure.

|||Hi Bill, by default .NET 2.0 security providers(membership, profile, ect.) use a connection string named LocalSqlServer, to learn more details you can take a look at this article:

When I am setting up the data source for the gridview tool, everything works fine and the test query works fine, but then when I try to actually test the output in the browser with Cntrl+F5 I get this error.

I have been trying for 48 hours to find a solution on my own. I have googled, I have searched everything and I just am at a point where I think I need to ask someone for help.

Please help.

Hi,

I guess you want to attach a user instance to SQL Server. But the path specified for the user instance is a server attached instance, which makes you able to view the data through the server explorer but won′t make you able to use the run the code, because at startup VS will try to create a user instance at the location specified (which is already occupied by the server instance database) and which will fail. The solution is to specify another folder to create the suer attached instance during the build of the code, thats all. That should make you able to run the build process as well as the code.

An attempt to attach an auto-named database failed

I have a problem with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express,
My web application runs fine on my development PC, but when I copy it to my
server (My server is running Windows 2000 Server) and try to access it from
the web I get following error:
An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file
C:\Inetpub\okbehappy.net\App_Data\aspnetdb.mdf failed. A database with the
same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC

The ASPNET account has full control of the database.
Is this a known bug in Microsoft SQL Server?
What should I do?

I thought that was the problem, but it isn't. I had already given the ASPNET
account full control when I had problems with a hit counter. That took me two
days to figure out...
Anyway,
With the info you have now what do you suggest I do?

AMO - Dimension Composite Key

i'm developing an aplication in order to create a cube on the fly, and i'm confuse with something that i read at the Msdn's web site, the doubt that i have is about composite keys in Dimension Tables, after read this paragraph (extracted from - http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345091.aspx - "Creating Dropping and Finding Dimensions) .

" The primary key attribute of the dimension should be defined as

AttributeUsage.Key to make clear that this attribute is the key access

to the dimension "

It's like the Dimension Tables must have a unique atributte as PK right ?, but what happens if my Dim Tables have a compositeKey ?.

Is necessary to create a UNIQUE atribute as PK in the Dimension Tables ?

The Key attribute of a dimension can have a composite key - an example is the [Internet Sales Order Details] dimension in Adventure Works, with key columns of {SalesOrderNumber, SalesOrderLineNumber}. In terms of AMO, multiple DataItems could be added to an attribute's KeyColumns collection:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/zh-cn/library/microsoft.analysisservices.dimensionattribute.keycolumns.aspx

>>

DimensionAttribute.KeyColumns Property

Gets the collection of key column definitions for DimensionAttribute.

...

>>

|||Thank you Deepak, I look the Adventure Works -Amo example and like you see its possible to have a composite key in a Dimension Table (it makes sense :) ).

I saw that they "rename" this composite key with ' Sales Order Key ', i suposse this is like create on the fly a unique PK that encapsulates the composite key, in order to be used later at the measureGroup creation, am i wrong ?.

Thanks for your fast reply!!!

cheers Lisber.

Amazon Web Service Call with Web Service Task

With the new improvments to the web service task, we can now use variables as arguments in web service calls. I am trying to setup a call to the amazon web service ECS. I am trying to do a simple sellerlookup. I have played with the settings and gotten nowhere. I get one of two error when I try to execute. I can always use a scripting task or write my own task, but I would like to use the built in task if it is possible. Has anyone used AWS with SSIS?

[Web Service Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.WebServiceTask.WebserviceTaskException: Could not execute the Web method. The error is: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.. at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.WebServiceTask.WebMethodInvokerProxy.InvokeMethod(DTSWebMethodInfo methodInfo, String serviceName, Object connection) at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.WebServiceTask.WebServiceTaskUtil.Invoke(DTSWebMethodInfo methodInfo, String serviceName, Object connection, VariableDispenser taskVariableDispenser) at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.WebServiceTask.WebServiceTask.executeThread()".

Hi,

I'm having the same problem with a web service, did you can an answer to this?

Thanks, Paul.

Did anyone ever resolved this?

Thanks Henry

|||I resolved mine it was actually an issue with data type assignment in the variable passed. This error reporting for this task is terrible.|||

Thanks Hnery have not solved it

Amateur :: Connections

hi to you all...

i need some help with SSIS... i need some examples to transfer data from one server to another via web ...

can anyone help with this ?'

thx to all

Start with this - build an extract process to pull the data into a flat file, run a FTP process to send the flat file to a new server, and then a load process on the remote server to load the data in the flat file.

Am I doin this right? SELECT / ExecuteNonQuery statement

I am working on a web service method that will return weather or not a page url is stored in the database but the ExecuteNonQuery keeps returning -1. I was just wondering if i was doing anything wrong or why the ExecuteNonQuery method does not return a value of 1 or more indicating that the pageurl exists in the database? I have tried using the SQLDataReader as well to no effect and I have verified that SELECT statement refers to valid table and field names. Any help or pointers would be appreciated. I'm still kind of a newb when it comes to db programming.

1 <WebMethod()> _
2Public Function IsPageStored(ByVal pageurlAs String)As Boolean
3 If String.IsNullOrEmpty(pageurl)Then Return False
45 Dim connAs New SqlConnection()
6 conn.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("dbStoredList").ConnectionString
78Dim cmdAs String9 cmd ="SELECT [" & Constants.SourceFieldName &"] "10 cmd &="FROM [" & Constants.StoredCopyTableName &"] "11 cmd &="WHERE ([" & Constants.SourceFieldName &"] ='@.Source')"12 Dim C As New SqlCommand(cmd, conn)
13 C.Parameters.AddWithValue("@.Source", New SqlTypes.SqlString(pageurl))
14 C.Parameters.Item("@.Source").CompareInfo = SqlTypes.SqlCompareOptions.IgnoreCase
1516 conn.Open()
1718Dim existsAs Boolean =False19 exists = (C.ExecuteNonQuery > 0)
2021 conn.Close()
22 C.Dispose()
23 C =Nothing24 conn.Dispose()
25 conn =Nothing
2627 Return exists
28End Function29

ExecuteNonQuery:Runs theAdomdCommand without returning any results.

For the purpose I understand, you can use ExecuteReader or ExecuteScalar if you required only one column value is return.

I think you have to use. ExecuteScalar.

Please make sure you click the Answer button if this is true answer.

Regards.

In addition to what the prior person mentioned, if all you want to know is that the record exists then query for a count. SELECT COUNT(primaryKey) FROM tblName WHERE .....<add all your where conditions here>. Then you can use ExecuteScalar - much more efficient.

|||

<WebMethod()> _
2 Public Function IsPageStored(ByVal pageurlAs String)As Boolean
3 If String.IsNullOrEmpty(pageurl)Then Return False
4
5 Dim connAs New SqlConnection()
6 conn.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("dbStoredList").ConnectionString
7
8 Dim cmdAs String

cmd="IF EXISTS("
9 cmd &="SELECT [" & Constants.SourceFieldName &"] "
10 cmd &="FROM [" & Constants.StoredCopyTableName &"] "
11 cmd &="WHERE ([" & Constants.SourceFieldName &"] ='@.Source')"

cmd &= ") SET @.RETVAL=1 ELSE SET @.RETVAL=0"
12 Dim C As New SqlCommand(cmd, conn)
13 C.Parameters.AddWithValue("@.Source", New SqlTypes.SqlString(pageurl))
14 C.Parameters.Item("@.Source").CompareInfo = SqlTypes.SqlCompareOptions.IgnoreCase

c.Parameters.Add("@.RETVAL", SqlDbType.Int).Direction = ParameterDirection.Output

15
16 conn.Open()
17
18 Dim existsAs Boolean =False

c.ExecuteNonQuery
19 exists = c.Parameter("@.RETVAL").Value
20
21 conn.Close()
22 C.Dispose()
23 C =Nothing
24 conn.Dispose()
25 conn =Nothing
26
27 Return exists
28 End Function

Using the EXISTS allows SQL Server to stop retrieving records when it finds the very first record that matches, instead of having to find them all. This also should force SQL Server to optimize it's query plan.

I've also changed the code from the above examples to use an output parameter instead of returning a value as a resultset. This is a more efficient way to return a simple result as well.

Thanks for the tips every one, they helped me greatly!
